Hydraulic fluid enters the single port at the base, applying pressure directly to the entire cross-sectional area of the plunger rod. The extending force is calculated as F_extension = System Pressure (P) × Plunger Rod Area (A_rod)
As a predominantly single-acting device, it has no hydraulic pressure for retraction. Retraction is accomplished by:
1. Gravity (in vertical applications).
2. An external load or spring.
3. A separate return cylinder in a duplex setup.
